The Professional Construction Estimators Association of America, Inc. was chartered in 1956, by members of various construction disciplines from the Charlotte, NC area.  During those early years the members rallied together to exchange ideas, promote educational endeavors and high ethical standards for Construction industry estimators.  Today’s National association holds true to those founding principles.

The purpose and objective of the organization is to further the recognition of construction estimating as a professional field within the construction industry.  To collect and disseminate information that will increase the efficiency of all phases of construction, promote good will between the various phases of construction, obtain a more thorough understanding of the various problems confronting the construction industry.

PCEA members have always been active in the promotion of construction education for the betterment of the industry. Each chapter coordinates, develops and establishes programs to assist and enhance the educational development. The Chapters support scholarships to local students, looking to continue their careers in the construction industry.

PCEA Triangle Chapter #3

The Triangle Chapter of the Professional Construction Estimators Association was the 3rd Chapter chartered, after the Charlotte and Triad Chapters.  The Triangle Chapter was chartered in 1966.  The first Chapter President was Joe Edwards, Jr.  They grew steadily from the beginning, reaching a peak in membership of 255 members in 1990.

The chapter began providing scholarships to students in the Civil Engineering Cirriculum at North Carolina State University in the early 1980's.  In 1985, an endowment was established at NCSU to fund these scholarships.  Since then, the chapter has expanded its scholarship offerings to students at Wake Technical Community College, Durham Technical Community College, and Vance-Granville Community College.  Additionally, endowments were established at East Carolina University and UNC-Charlotte.  In 1996, the endowment at NCSU was increased to fund a second scholarship.  This scholarship was named the J. Kyle Cave Memorial Scholarship.

To support these scholarships, the Triangle Chapter has held many fundraisers over the years from Golf Tournaments to Raffles.  Most recently, the Chapter has been holding a Spring Golf Tournament and Fall Sporting Clay's Event to support these scholarships.
